GripSync User Guide

Everything you need to know about customizing and mastering your virtual Xbox controller.

1. Understanding Layouts

GripSync uses a fully customizable web interface directly on your phone. By default, it loads a highly minimal layout designed specifically for racing games.

How to Edit

Tap the floating pencil icon (✏ī¸) in the bottom corner of your phone screen to enter Edit Mode. You can drag any button around the screen.

Tap on a specific button while in Edit Mode to reveal the Size Toolbar at the top of the screen. You can enlarge it, shrink it, or press the trash can (🗑ī¸) to delete it from your screen entirely.

2. Settings & Profiles

In the top left corner, tap the gear icon (⚙ī¸) to open the Settings menu. Here you can load pre-built presets or adjust advanced inputs.

The "Full Xbox" Preset

If you deleted a button by accident, or you simply want access to every single button on a real Xbox controller (D-Pad, L3, R3, Select, Start), simply click the 🎮 Full Xbox preset. It will reveal every button, and you can organize them how you like.

Sensitivity Curves

Change how your steering feels. Linear provides a raw 1:1 input. Exponential slows down movements in the center for precise micro-adjustments.

Gyro Maximum Tilt

Adjust how far you have to tilt your phone to reach 100% steering. Setting it to 45° means tilting your phone 45 degrees steers the car completely.

3. Control Modes

At the bottom of your screen, there is a pill-shaped dock with icons that change how the controller behaves fundamentally.

  • 📱 Gyro Mode: Uses your phone's physical gyroscope to steer (perfect for Forza or F1).
  • 🕹ī¸ Stick Mode: Disables the gyro and puts a traditional left analog stick on the screen.
  • 🏎ī¸ Drive Mode: Changes the right joystick so that pushing UP acts as the Gas trigger (RT) and pulling DOWN acts as the Brake (LT).
  • 🔓 Lock Y-Axis: Prevents you from accidentally steering when you are only trying to press the Gas.

4. How to Uninstall

GripSync installs cleanly to your system and securely cleans up its virtual drivers when removed.

To completely uninstall GripSync:

  1. Press the Windows Key and type Add or remove programs.
  2. Search for GripSync in the list.
  3. Click Uninstall.
  4. The uninstaller will automatically detach the virtual Xbox controller and delete the background processes cleanly.
